Registration requirements

What you need to register as a prospective corps member, including your fingerprints and passport photo.

Have these ready before you start.

A Digital Persona U.are.U 4500 fingerprint scanner It's the only scanner the NYSC portal supports. No licence is needed.
  • A Windows computer to install the registration app on.
  • A recent passport photograph that meets the rules below.
  • Your name on your school's senate list. Check it here.

Install the registration app

The desktop app handles your whole registration, fingerprints included.

  1. Open the biometric client page and follow its instructions to install the app.
  2. Plug in your fingerprint scanner before you start registering.
  3. Register in the app. No other software or licence is needed.

Seeing "Get the updated version"? Uninstall the app completely, then install it again from the biometric client page.

Your passport photograph

Photos that break these rules can stop your registration.

  • Your whole face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and jaw) is visible, with your head straight.
  • Your face fills the frame and is centred.
  • The background is white or off-white.
  • The photo is taken in good light.
  • The photo is passport size: 2 × 2 inches.
